How To Secure Sold Out Items & When Public Access Goes Live
Tomorrow (AKA secretly tonight) is the first day of Public Access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. So I wanted to give you all the details on how to shop it. It’s actually a VERY different strategy than Early Access since we already know what’s included in the sale.
- First off, Public Access goes live online at MIDNIGHT tonight {Seattle time}. So that’s 2 AM in Chicago. I personally don’t think you need to get up at 2 AM but I would hop on it FIRST thing when you wake up. Especially if something you want is sold out right now.
- Everything that’s SOLD OUT NOW, will be re-stocked for Public Access. They do this EVERY year and no doubt they will do it again.
- To ensure you get what you want, shop TODAY (aka put things in your shopping cart) then BUY first thing tomorrow. This will save you time and help you snatch it up before someone else does. If something you want is sold out right now (where you can’t put it in your cart), just make a note to add it tomorrow. If it’s available but not in the right size/color, still put it in your shopping cart, then edit it accordingly before you buy.

MEN’S JEANS, CLUTCHES AND WINTER COATS…
A LOT of you specifically requested help for these three categories – Men’s Jeans, Clutches and Winter Coats to be exact! I listed what I felt was the best bang for you buck below. Along with tips and advice for choosing the right one for you. BE SURE TO READ MY NOTE ABOUT WINTER COATS. Note: although there are a ton of options, not everything falls under the $100 category, like above. Let me know what you get and happy shopping guys!
MEN’S JEANS
Tips: When selecting nice jeans for any man in your life, they should be a dark wash, zero distressing and a classic fit. This combo allows your guy to be set for almost EVERY life event. A basic style and color means they’re acceptable for work, meetings (with a nice button down and blazer), special events and especially every day. BE SURE to order a few pairs (even if you just want one). Jeans are personal and you have to go with what looks good – not what’s trendy or popular.
Favorites: If I could choose ONE pair, I’d recommend these. If you’re looking for a steal, try these {Only $64! But will go up to $100 after the sale}. And if you’re a 6’4″ man (like my husband), he LOVES these. If the jeans are too long, they 100% need to be taken to the tailor. The waist should be slightly snug because they will STRETCH after just one or two wears. To make them last for years, always hang dry (never put them in the dryer) and wear them several times prior to washing.
Side Note: Sean got these shoes from the sale last year. They are SHARP and he wears them religiously! They can be dressed up or dressed down year round. His held up so well and STILL look brand new. Also, his twin brother liked them so much, he got a pair too!
CLUTCHES
Tips: Honestly, the clutch selection was slim pickins! I secretly love small handbags where the strap can be removed or tucked in. This way you can wear it as a clutch. But if you have to eat/drink standing up, pull out the strap and you have two free hands!
Favorites: My favorite one (hands down) is this one {which I think is $40 but don’t hold me to it!). It SOLD OUT FAST during Early Access so I’d JUMP on this like a hot potato!
WINTER COATS
Tips: SO many awesome selections guys! If you need a REAL winter coat (remember, I live in Chicago so I’m talking BELOW FREEZING WEATHER), I’d say North Face or Mackage (definitely a splurge) is where it’s at for the Nordstrom Sale. I’ve had both and you can legit go out in a winter storm and feel toasty warm.
Favorites: The rest of the options are wool and much more polished than a puffer! I think it’s important to have at least ONE true warm coat and ONE dressy option. My FAVORITE one is this – which is a dead ringer for a Mackage (normally a $1K+ coat) but only $199! When I went to Paris, allllll the French girls wore a camel coat like this. And if you look closely at this one, it’s secretly a bunch of quilted bows 🙂
Real Talk: If you live in a REALLY cold state and need a WARM winter coat I’d personally skip the NSale and invest in something heavy duty {not on sale}. The good ones {that will actually keep you warm while walking or waiting for the train in the dead of winter} are $$$ and will last you 7-10 years. I don’t see these type of high quality coats included in the sale. I think it’s because true winter coat companies won’t discount their good stuff because they’re on the verge of Fall…their peak season.
I hope my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts were helpful and helped save you time! There’s so much to digest and even I’m finding new things I love (that I didn’t see before) almost daily.
