Happy Friday everyone! I hope you are basking in the lovely weather the Windy City is offering us this week. Such a perfect time to get all dressed with some place to go. Wondering where to go with your special someone this evening? I suggest the following perfect date!
I know I’ve mentioned this place in a previous post, but I swear by it. La Madia in River North has got it all: the intimate wine bar, most delicious pizza, a fantastic beer selection and best of all…reasonable prices.
Upon arrival, ask to sit at the pizza bar which includes a complimentary glass of Prossecco. Win. Watching the chefs prepare the pizza is an extra bonus of entertainment.
They even have corresponding beer glasses, which for some reason or another, makes you savor your brewski that much more. The Trumer Pills goes delightfully well with pizza. In more of a vino mood? Ask about the $5 glasses of red and white wine specials.
With all the hype regarding Mastro’s (ANOTHER Chicago Steakhouse), I of course had to incorporate it into your evening. In my opinion, the food is subpar for the price…but their dessert and martinis more than make up for it! So after you have filled your bellies with scrumptious, gooey pizza pies, hop on over to Mastros, which is conveniently right around the corner.
Grab a table in the bar area where they play live piano music every night. You two must absolutely induldge in their signature Butter Cake. This sinful hot, crumbly butter cake is served with homemade ice cream and a healthy helping of handmade whipped cream. TO DIE FOR.
If there’s still room in your tummies…the martinis are out of this world. For extra pizzaz, select one made with dry ice…which smokes and steams right out of your glass. Also, please note, these are made from full martini shakers. So the shaker left overs are kept within arms reach for a second refill. Talk about two for one.
If you get a chance to go to either La Madia or Mastros, please feel free to tell us about your experience. Happy Friday!
