Just like two of the Yelp reviews, I am almost regretting even sharing this find. But after dining at DiSotto Enoteca last night, I could not wait to share my experience at one of the best date spots in all of Chicago. First date, second date, group date or blind date…truly fit for any occassion.
Right around the corner from the Hancock, in the basement of Francesca’s on Chestnut, is an Italian, wine cellar-esq restaurant named DiSotto Enoteca. The name literally translates to “Underground Wine Bar” in Italian. With a fabulous wine selection, savory small plates and candel chandeliers, this restaurant exudes intimacy and romance. I know it’s French, but oooh la la.
The boy toy and I naturally kicked off the evening with something on the cocktail menu.
Note: STRONG DRINKS = GOOD CONVERSATION.
Both were delicious and before I knew it, we were engaging in an interesting convesation. After placing our order and finishing our drinks, the waitress suggested a fabulous glass of white wine, La Paradou Viognier, to go with the first plate.
Savory. Sinful. A definite must.
Immediatly following the first, our second plate consisted of caprese salad on light, buttery toast. A tasty classic.
My date ordered a glass of Pinot Noir. Which lead to an even more interesting conversation.
Tust me when I say there is no skimping on the pours around here. Then last but not least, we indluged in a delightful cheese platter.
Dates and toasted baguettes were added to compliment our cheese (Pecorino Sardo) and salami (Cacciatorini). And I of course needed some champagne to compliment the compliments.
Hello lovely.
We of course topped the night off with dessert. It consisted of a little bit of this…
and a little bit of that…
A perfect ending to a perfect night. I think I may have fallen in love all over again. From the sexy music, to the secret location, this place is a true Italian love affair. Ti amo DiSotto Enoteca. See you next week.
