No one loves a good pub on St. Patrick’s Day more than Chicago. The Guinness flowing, people swaying, music blasting debacle is more like a national holiday around here. Considering there are more pubs, bars, parties and restaurants you can shake a stick at, I feel recommendations are unnecessary.
However for those that are looking for just a taste of St. Patty’s Day minus the mayhem, here are some delightful options.
Sip on the signature ‘Shamrocktini’ at the chic mezzanine-lobby restaurant, Rebar. Overlooking the river, watch one of the best Chicago traditions, the dying of the river green. Although it is $18 for one of these lovely drinks, it is definitely worth avoiding the crowd and the cold! Just be sure to be there before 10:45AM to see the dying on Saturday, March 12th.
Cityscape Bar
Another hotel bar overlooking the Chicago River, is the posh top floor lounge at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. On Saturday, March 12th, from 5 – 7:30 PM, enjoy some St. Patrick’s Day themed cocktails and cold Guinness drafts. You can also snack on the complimentary h’or dourves such as mini corned beef sandwiches and Guinness BBQ chicken wings.
Four Seasons
Wake up Sunday morning and treat yourself to the St. Patrick’s Day Brunch at the Four Seasons Hotel. Chef Hickey will be serving some of his Irish favorites who is Irish himself! With some interesting spins on his dishes, expect to see the following:
- Oysters with Guinness
- Grilled Irish Sea Salmon with Colcannon Potatoes
- Roasted Leg of Lamb with Ballymaloe Relish
- Irish Soda Bread Pudding with Whiskey Cream
This is a great opportunity to try some Irish cusine and even see some traditional Irish dancers! Irish coffees and whiskeys will be offered as well to compliment this tasty brunch. This is only on Sunday, March 13th from 10:30AM to 1:30 PM. Pricing is $75 per person and $25 per child.
