Butteflies Taste With Their Feet: Chicago Date Ideas

Since spring has sprung in the Windy City, it is important to embrace this delightful season with all Chicago has to offer. So when I found out about Free Admission Thursday’s at  The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park, I just had to share! I have not yet gone, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will be there soon.
The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum has collections, exhibits and classes for both Adults and Children.  You can be in and out as long (or as short) as you would like and learn a bundle about the environment, science and all things nature. Did I mention it is FREE on Thursdays? Otherwise, $9/adult…still not bad!
Did you know they have a butterfly sanctuary? A 2,700 square foot greenhouse, filled with butterflies! I snagged a few pictures off of Yelp so you can see for yourself.

You have to admit, this looks pretty cool…

If you live near by, skip the cab and walk the lakefront trail. The museum is right off the path and the city skyline view is stunning.

Afterwards, grab a bite to eat at one of the following recommended restaurants (all within walking distance):

Five Guys Burger and Fries ($) – For something low key and easy, hit up this well known, fast food burger joint. Easy on the wallet and keeps things cool, casual and comfortable.

The Basil Cafe ($$) – I have never been here, but who can argue with Italian and wine? Between the 4 star Yelp reviews, the looks of the sandwich and salad menu and the darling outdoor seating, I am going to put my head on the chopping block and suggest it.

Mon Ami Gabi ($$$) – For something a little on the nicer side, check out this Lettuce Entertain You, French bistro, situated in an old Hotel/Condo building. Great food, nice atmosphere and fantastic drinks. Has a very lovely bar too if you would like to come for a cocktail instead.

North Pond ($$$$) – Really wanting to jazz it up? This is the place to do it. Nestled in the middle of Lincoln Park Zoo and right along the water, this place oozes romance. Super fancy schmancy place and out of this world cuisine. One of the nicest restaurants in Chicago.

So grab a friend and learn a thing or two at The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. You can never go wrong with something free. Happy May!
