Birchbox: July 2011

As they say, better late then never! Here is a quick glimpse of my July Birchbox. If you are not familiar with Birchbox, see my June post here to learn allll about it.

This month’s box was themed Cynthia Rowley‘s Favorite Picks. I admit, I was not initially thrilled (maybe it was all the designer hype), but after using these products, I am in LOVE. Cynthia really knows what she is talking about!

First up we have the Ahava hand cream. I had never heard of this brand and not even the slightest bit interested at the time. I don’t even like hand cream! But after throwing this in my purse and slathering my hands out of pure boredom, this has become my ultimate, most favorite Birchbox item (so far). It is light and makes your hands incredibly silky. I am obsessed. I have been accumulating my review points and this will definitely be my first purchase off the Birchbox website. So point proven, this little box o’ fun really gets you to try things you otherwise wouldn’t!

Next, is the you-can-use-any season-any occasion Zoya nail polish. Color in Shay. Nude and classy with a little bit of shine, this polish goes with anything. Although I really liked this color, I do not know if I would go out of my way to purchase this $8 bottle. I think I might stick with my beloved Essie and OPI.

The next item is a very nice size spray can of Redken Shine Flash. If I had thick, luscious locks, I would use this every day. Shine Flash gives you that extra shiny, healthy hair look every girl dreams of. Cynthia actually sprays all her models’ hair with this before headed down the runway. In my case, my hair is blond, thin and fine, so it weighs down my hair. I need all the volume I can get!

Probably one of my top three favorites, is the Philosophy Purity Facial Cleanser included in my Cynthia Rowley box. It is gentle and has not made my face break out once. I love it. I had seen Philosophy products before and had always wanted to try them. The only thing keeping me was the $$$ factor. Who wants to spend $32 on face soap without trying it first? Not me. But now I can say I might buy this once the rest of my Walgreen’s face cleanser runs out.

As a throw in, Birchbox included Cynthia’s favorite snack. And again…I am OBSESSED. The Kind Bar. These little puppies are delicious, healthy and really do the trick. Made of nuts and fruit, they curb your hunger like no other. I received the Almond Apricot but I have tried all the other flavors thanks to  Starbucks keeping these conveniently located at their register. Another expense to add to my expensive lattes! Cynthia keeps these bars in her purse to prevent her from buying fast food or making unhealthy impulse decisions. I have not seen these in the grocery store, but I am quite tempted to purchase a box online. Try one, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Birchbox taught me a little lesson this month…Don’t not judge a box by it’s cover. I gave these products a fair shot and have now incorporated three of them into my daily life. So give it a shot yourself and buy your $10 box today! Stay tuned for August!
