After reading GQ’s article, Ten Best New Restaurants in America, I was taken back that somehow this Chicago restaurant called, Ruxbin, escaped my radar. It went straight to the top of my list and just so happened my birthday was right around the corner. So this past Sunday, with the p’s and boo in tow, it was over the river and through the woods to Ruxbin restaurant we go!
{the line started thirty minutes prior to opening at 5:30!}
{a popcorn snack-a-roo}
{an old dark room turned into bathroom}
{hop in and spin the door} {model for us Cindy. that’s Cindy, my mom!}
{from the outside}
{from the inside…coolest, secret bathroom ever!}
{BYOB…beer for the boys}
{vino for the ladies}
{garlic fries…}
{…with chipotle aioli}
{calamari appetizer}
{two amish chicken entrees}
{the hanger steak}
{the mushroom etouffe}
{happy birthday to me!}
{and a doggie bag to go}
Every. Single. Dish. Was amazing. One of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. GQ don’t lie kids! Off the beaten path, Ruxbin is well worth the journey and the wait. Just be sure to get there early, as they do not accept reservations.

Ruxbin was just featured on Check, Please! a few weeks ago. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but it’s on my list! Glad to hear your birthday dinner was lovely 🙂
Just discovered your blog and love it! I’m your newest follower! How I miss Chicago! I loved living there, but loved a military man more and am now following him. 🙂 I just started my blog three weeks ago and would love for you to check it out and follow me back if you like what you see!
You are going to start thinking I’m stalking you – but I’m not, I swear – only your blog. When I find new bloggers (especially ones whose posts I’m actually interested in and even better, relate to Chicago!) I can’t help myself but to go through months of posts.
Good friends of ours have been to Ruxbin twice and raved about it both times and I really want to go – it’s great to find another wonderful review about the place. And really, you cannot beat great food and BYOB!
Nice clicks!!
