A Walk Along Astor

Happy first day of spring! I was able to squeeze in a refreshing walk down Astor and State street yesterday. Here are my findings…

A side garden path…

A hidden playground…

A secret garden…

I wish I could go inside! I peaked my lens through the gate…

This was previously the daughter of Mr. Wrigley’s mansion. It has since been turned into upscale condos.

The original Playboy Mansion. The swanky Pump Room and old Ambassador Hotel (now Public) is right across the street. Back in the day the most coveted hotel rooms were actually the ones facing the street (opposed to the usual requested lakefront views). This was because you could spot the Playboy bunnies sun bathing on the roof!

Garden design…

See the gray and black trimmed cottage below? It is one of my favorite houses on State Street. It can easily go unnoticed and quite gloomy. But its quirkiness makes it so intriguing don’t you think? If you are ever by McFadden’s you can see it right across the way.

I think Chicago is in full bloom ladies and gentlemen. Have a wonderful Tuesday.
