Perhaps it’s the Hermes orange door with the centered knob. Which no one can seem to figure out how to close.
Or the hidden seating area. You must pass through the kitchen to get there.
Maybe it’s the homemade soups and rumored, incredible tuna salad sandwich.
Or it could be the delightful Belgian owners who work the counter everyday. Or so it feels!
Possibly it’s the personal mini salt and pepper shakers they serve on your plate, versus placed on the table.
Or the butter. Oooooh the butter!
But hands down, Hendrickx Bakery makes the best croissant in Chicago.
I have been coming here for years and debated several times whether or not to share this rare gem. It is simply that good and special to me. But if you didn’t already know, now you do.
Do you have a “best” in Chicago? If so, share the wealth in the comment section below. It’s only fare we swap city secrets!

Ashley, yay! If you are in the mood for some company, I would love to go with you. It’s been FOREVER!
I love to serve chicken salad with croissants at a family brunch and this bakery is such a beautiful space!
What a cute hosting idea. And so easy! Croissants are to die for and make the best sandwiches. Keeping that in my back pocket next time I have company. Thanks for the tip!
Unrelated to this most (although I am hungry from it), I just saw on your “cedarandrush” snapchat (which are great btw) that you are selling items on ebay. You should link it to your website! I know Liz from Sequins and Stripes had great success selling that way!
Lindsey, thank you! What a great idea and glad you are liking my “snapchats”. I feel like I am still figuring it out so hopefully they get better with time. I am going to include my ebay items in tomorrow’s post. Thanks lady!
