Brass Monkey…that funky monkey!
Beastie Boys would hands down approve of Untitled’s new baby sister, who just made her appearance in the West Loop. The husband and I checked out the opening of the 70’s inspired joint last week and had a blast. Not to be confused as a themed dining establishment, expect a lofted space with brass details and a delicious menu.
The special plates brought me right back to my early days and NO, I was not born in the 70’s! Their gourmet version of fish sticks, JELLO, sloppy joe sliders, upside down pineapple cake and TV Dinner made me oh so happy. But not like mama used to make! These items are a fancy, upscale play on your childhood favorites. I went with the TV Dinner and seriously about DIED at the presentation. Served in a glass compartmentalized plate, the mashed potatoes, peas, corn and fish sticks were phenomenal. And I did not hesitate to get down with the Grateful Dead cocktails and music . We polished it all off with S’Mores and wine. If you are looking for someplace new and out of the ordinary, Brass Monkey should get on your list!
