So it’s 1:44 AM and I don’t have one thing to write about for today’s blog post. Did you know I am an insomniac? Seriously. And this closet on a budget I just found is not helping one bit. Great ideas right?!!
So in honor of pulling something out of my “you know what” I thought I’d share some random things that are on my bucket list. Not the jump out of a plane (I did that though!) or travel to Tahiti kind. I mean weirdly ordinary stuff. I was just sharing some of these with my friend last night, so I thought “why not put it on the world-wide web”? A completely natural way of thinking. So here it goes! P.S. the closet has nothing to do with this.
- Pull a real live carrot out of the ground! Don’t you feel like this would be so satisfying? A turnip, radish or onion would do just fine too.
- Start a fire with two sticks. No flint. No nothin! Bear Grillis style.
- Build a secret room in my someday house. And host my friends for tea inside of it.
- Get a medical pedicure. I hear they are the best and so very French!
- Bake our family’s Red Velvet Cake recipe from scratch. My dad’s mom made it for his birthday every year up until he was eleven – which is when she passed away. Now my aunt and mom make it for him (and now me!) once a year.
- Shave a truffle. And I don’t mean the chocolate kind.
- Ride in a fancy train. And have a cocktail at the bar.
- Try acupuncture.
So do you officially think I’m cuckoo?? Note, I have some flamboyant bucket list items too. But these are so tangible, I feel I could do them tomorrow! Which makes me wonder what’s stopping me? Just for fun, I also put together a list of exciting things I have been fortunate enough to experience already.
- Sipped a 108 year old bottle of wine. Just last weekend! More to come on that.
- Jumped out of a plane. Bought a Groupon for my boyfriend (now husband) for his birthday. So happy I did it but will never do it again. Exhilarating!
- I’ve been Morel hunting. A rare and incredibly tasty mushroom. They are expensive if you find them at a grocery store! I see them at Eataly all the time.
- Sipped coffee off the Amalfi Coast.
- Meet the love of my life. Hi Sean!
- Gelato in Rome.
- Crepes in Paris.
- Tinto de Veranos in Madrid.
- Fly in a private jet. Funnily enough it was for work.
Do you have any weird bucket list items? If so, you HAVE to tell! Or perhaps you have had an incredible life experience already? You HAVE to tell us that one too! Seriously, anything goes and the stranger the better in my opinion.

Tinto de Verano is THE BEST. Can’t wait to drink some once it is fully patio weather.
And I’ve had acupuncture, it is not as relaxing as I thought it would be…also never let them do cupping on you! I had welts and black and blue bruises all over my back for weeks after.
Ladies at the Bar
I don’t think your crazy at all! In fact, one thing I’d love to do is go deep sea fishing and land a huge swordfish or sailfish, and then mount it on my wall (though I don’t know if you’re even allowed to do that any more). People look at me like I’m nuts when I tell them that. And maybe I am.
Also, secret room. Yes. For me, it’d be reading nook with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.
I’m an insomniac, too! It’s awful…but great content always comes from random bouts of insomnia. I have been SO bad about my 101 in 1,001 list and I’m determined to make a major dent in that this year. One thing I have done that I’d give almost anything to do again…go to Europe alone. I was so nervous about going, but I ended up in both London and Paris and all I did was walk around, meet people and eat delicious food.
Something I’ve never done and want to do… climb a glacier.
p.s. I’ve started a fire with sticks and it’s SO WORTH IT!

Acupuncture is amazing! You should definitely try it!!
My favorite little things are the small moments like catching a fish, making homemade dishes, and making yearly commitments to dive off of a diving board. 🙂
Lol I love this list! So creative! I want to try acupuncture, but I’m a little scared!

What an awesome list! Shaving a truffle is on my list too… but now I must go look up medical pedicures. The curiosity is just too much! Lol http://www.InteriorsbyJacquin.blogspot.com
