For the first time in over 100 years, the once Chicago Athletic Association has opened it’s doors to both men AND women!
And it is GORGEOUS my friends.
A boys only club since 1893, the entire refurbished building is now a hotel. With several restaurants and bars, the builders kept it’s “authentic athletic” look throughout the interior. And let’s not mention the Vanity Fair and Conde Nast design features.
I recently took a tour with Kara Superfine – one of Chicago’s best wedding planners – and it’s by far the most amazing hotel I’ve EVER seen. You need to get there! The view over Millennium Park is worth it alone. And do yourself a favor by requesting a tour (they’ll do it for you!). Or go for a rooftop cocktail.
In the meantime, here is a grand tour of the Chicago Athletic Hotel if you haven’t been. Psssst! I saved the best for last!
Shake Shack is on the first floor!
I indulged in an iced coffee in the Lobby’s Drawing Room. You could also bring your computer and post up for the day.
The Game Room was one of my favorite rooms. Unfortunately the lighting isn’t ideal for photography, so this does not do it justice. Bocce Ball (shown above), poker tables and a bar reside in the room over. A great place for the boys to grab drinks and packed on weekend nights!
Cherry Circle is their fine dining speakeasy restaurant. Don’t you want to sit on those comfy barstools?
The guest rooms follow suit with masculine details.
Even the robes!
The magazines and waters are placed in branded, leather satchels. Yes, that is water.
The elevator walls are made up of wood from the old fencing courts!
If I am ever so lucky to attend an event in their ballroom, I could die a happy girl!
Hello perfect view over Millennium Park.
You may have missed it, but take note of the ceiling above! Have you ever seen cooler lightbulbs?!
And last, but certainly not least, is Cindy’s – the jewel of the crown! AKA their stunning indoor/outdoor rooftop.
This is an original Andy Warhol painting! Such a treat.
And as mentioned, the view over Millennium Park is over the top! You can also spy the museums and Navy Pier (not pictured) will sipping a cocktail outside.
So if you don’t have any plans this weekend (or tonight!), get your little tush over to the Chicago Athletic Hotel. There is something for everyone and don’t forget to request a tour. It’s totally worth it!
There are almost no words for how amazing this hotel is! The architecture, vibe — it’s all the sort of thing I’ve been waiting for Chicago to have for soooooo long!! Gorgeous shots Nicole!
Sed Bona
Who knew such a gem was sitting right there on Michigan Avenue? I’m taken aback by how gorgeous all the masculine finishes are and the fact that there is a Shake Shack now a block away from my office building doesn’t hurt either!
Omgsh, I can’t believe that the men kept this place to themselves for so long!! What a georgous old build and amazing view!! I cant wait to explore!! (and grab some Shake Shack!!)
Looks like just stepping into this place would instantly up someone’s level of class. 🙂
This is incredibly beautiful! Definitely adding Cindy’s to my list before the summer ends.
