I apologize now for the over abundance of photos today. But I just simply couldn’t narrow down the stunning details and special memories from our Nantucket trip this summer. It’s one of the most beautiful and unique places I have ever been.
Every home and building consists of gray cedar shingles, white trim and lush gardens. Beautiful people, preppy attire. Cobbled streets. Sun kissed faces. And a salty sea breeze that want to put in your pocket for keeps.
If you have plans of visiting, I put together the ultimate Nantucket guide for every mood and occasion possible. Feel free to admire the sunsets, lobster rolls and my beautiful second family (the inlaws!) while scrolling down.
Best Lunch Spots
- The Brotherhood of Thieves: An 1840’s whaling bar. Their burgers and everything is wonderful.
- Provisions: A gourmet sandwich shop. The “Turkey Terrific” with stuffing and cranberry sauce will rock your boat.
- Beachside Bistro at The Summer House: Right on the water in Sconset. The most beautiful hotel, with outdoor seating. Great for cocktails too.
- Chanticleer Rose Garden in Sconset. In Debi Lilly’s own words “Like taking trip to Provence without the passport. Magical.”
- Met on Main: Great brunch spot and delicious cappuccinos. Love their outside courtyard.
Favorite Beaches
- Jetties: we especially enjoyed the sandbar.
- Cisco: hit up Cisco Brewery first.
- Siasconset
Dinner
- Millie’s for sunset: Order the tacos.
- Brotherhood of Thieves: Just as great for dinner.
Favorite Nightlife
- Tree Bar: A magical garden bar around a tree. Lots of twinkle lights and rosé. Yay!
- The Gazebo: A huge bar inside a gazebo.
- Slip 14: One of our favorite late night spots! Very casual, reasonably priced drinks and open air. Located on the pier, next to all the insane yacht mansions.
- Cru: Head to the back of the restaurant where you’ll find a bar right on the wharf. Fabulous cocktails and even better yacht watching. Rumor has it their shrimp cocktail is insanely huge and delish. Thanks Debi for the recommendation!
- Galley Beach: The scene and be seen. Go for cocktails at the lounge beach. I unfortunately never made it but I know it’s the place to be!
Must Do’s
- Whaling Museum: Nantucket is an old whaling island. Tons of fascinating history. It may not seem interesting, however it absolutely is!
- Cisco Brewery: Live music, food trucks and beer. The coolest brewery I’ve ever been to! Grab a lobster roll at The Lobster Trap food truck.
- Brant Point Lighthouse: So lovely! A must see. We came here during sunset and lit some lanterns in honor of Sean’s father who passed away when he was in college.
- Siasconset {Sconset}: A beautiful part of the island. Go for the rose cottages, stunning mansions and beach. Also, get there early so you can snag the famous blueberry muffins from the Sconset Market. I was 10 minutes too late 🙁
- The Juice Bar: A line around the block everyday. Homemade waffle cones and the best ice-cream. Worth the wait or go there during off times.
- Nantucket Looms: Where all the first ladies shop (including Jackie O!). Make sure you pay a visit to their weave and design studio on the second floor.
An extra special thank you to my mother-in-law Chris, who planned and made this whole trip happen. Chris, we cannot tell you how much we appreciate this beautiful trip and the amount of time that went into planning it. A lifetime memory I will remember forever. Same place, same time next year?
My family took a trip to Nantucket when I was 25 and I haven’t been back since but always tell my husband that I will take him there one day. Thanks for the guide, Nicole, and your family photos are gorgeous!
