Yeesh. I totally ghosted on you guys didn’t I? My bad.
For those of you here, bless your hearts. I am happy to report I am alive, well and kick’en. P.S. love you dolls who checked in on me! I’m looking at you Jess. In a nutshell, it’s all because of my New Year Resolution…
FOCUS on ONE thing at a time.
And it’s secretly so hard.
Here’s the backstory. I recently had a major realization. Multi-tasking is the productivity kiss of death. Have you ever heard of “context switching”? Context Switching is the time it takes to adjust from one project to another. Which means the more you have on your plate, the less work you get done per project.
Get. This. Let’s say you are working on 5 projects in one given day. Only 20% of your time is productive real work. The remaining 80% is spent on switching from one project to another. Scale this to a full 8 hour work day – that’s only 1.6 hours of stuff getting done!
WTF. CRAZY RIGHT?!
So what am I working on now? I’m tightening up my Nicole Regan social media side of the house. Such as processes, how I’m unique, resources, etc. Hence, why Cedar & Rush has taken a a back seat.
One of my other “focuses” (as soon as I finish above) is to hone in on Cedar & Rush and define…
- Why you should read Cedar & Rush.
- How Cedar & Rush is unique from other blogs.
- And the value you get from hanging out with me.
Which are pretty tough questions. Try answering them about yourself. You’ll see what I mean. P.S. Wouldn’t this secretly be a great dating exercise? It’s like asking yourself, what do I bring to the table in a relationship? Scary! Good thing I was able to tantalize Sean with my charming ways for 3 years before marriage (j/k!).
So what have you guys been up to? What are your New Year resolutions? Are you sticking with them? I missed you so hard! But I’m excited to be back.
These photos were taken by my absolute favorite photographer in all of Chicago, Christina Slaton at one of my favorite donut joints – Stan’s.
So happy you are back! I missed you!!!
Thank you Miranda for your sweet note 🙂 I hope you’re having a great weekend!
’bout time you showed up to blog, Nicole! (it is so hard to blog when you have work too, right?) Nice to see you.
You are the best! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
Those questions ARE so hard to answer. Man, you have me thinking lady! And I feel you on blogging taking a back seat. I’m struggling these days, but ok with it for now. 🙂
Thanks Katie! You never seem like you struggle – but its nice to hear I am not alone. Keep up that great work girlfriend!
So happy you’re back!! xoxo

Yay! Thanks Annie 🙂
Elizabeth and I can totally relate to this! We’ve been neglecting our blog to put more energy into our brand. It’s just so difficult to keep up with both! Glad you’re getting back at it!
