This past Sunday, I attended a Russian tea party!
My dearest friend, who you’ve meet before, invited her girlfriends over for an intimate afternoon, influenced by the mother land’s greatest tradition. It’s where she’s from after all.
Now the reason I am sharing this today, is not because of the gorgeous tablescape. Or the original, ornate, Russian tea pot (it needed an electrical outlet converter!). But the out of ordinary conversations resulting from a cozy, intimate atmosphere. A tea party in someone’s home is a refreshing switch up from the usual lunch outing, dinner reservation or cocktails.
I highly recommend taking the bull by the horns and host one yourself! Given it was out of the ordinary, I looked forward to it all week.
Although no mention of dress code on the invitation, I found it funny how everyone dressed up a little more than normal.
She served traditional Russian tea fare – sardine crostinis, cucumber sandwiches, onion tartlets – mixed with American bites too – egg salad sandwiches, cupcakes and more.
When it comes to a tea party, anything goes. Go as elaborate, simple, big or small as you’d like. We had champagne too! It’s all about getting together with the special ladies in your life. So fun right?
Have you ever hosted a tea party? Pinky’s up!
Thanks so much for having us Anna! Such a beautiful way to welcome the new spring season!
What a gorgeous spread! And that russian teapot is absolutely stunning — so charming that it needed a converter too. How utterly romantic!
