Do you like to visit gardens?
It’s a secret pleasure of mine.
I recently ventured to Lilacia Park in Lombard with my friend, Kelly. Have you guys been?! It’s seriously one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve been to in the US. Not that I’m this world garden traveler or anything. They plant over 25,000 tulips and thousands of lilacs. The air is filled with so many blooming sensations – you want to bottle it up and spritz it on your wrists and neck.
Suggesting a trip out to Lombard (if you live in the city) may seem craaazy. But I swear. It’s worth the venture! When you arrive you kind of say to yourself “I can’t believe this exists here!”. They even have fun events throughout the summer, such as beer tasting, concerts and more. The back story is pretty fascinating too.
I some how convinced Kelly to go with me at 5 AM, so we could shoot during Golden Hour (the first and last hour of sunlight). This is the most flattering light for photos. Someone actually mistook me Gigi Hadid while there. Kidding, kidding! We were the only ones there and we frolicked like no one was watching. Because no one was.
P.S. Can we talk about these Ice Cream Tulips for a second? Don’t you want to post this on Instagram with the following emoji caption >> ???
And speaking of ice cream, Lombard is so famous for their Lilacs, you can get a Lilac dipped cone at the downtown Dairy Queen. Maybe they should come up with a tulip flavor too. ??
Have you been to Lilac Park? Or any gardens you love? My summer bucket list includes Osaka Garden – a Japanese stroll garden nestled within another park right out of Chicago. Nothing like a good garden stroll.
P.S. If you want to see more of the park, check out Kelly’s post here!
P.P.S. Don’t forget Nordstom is having their Anniversary Sale right now! 40% off baby!
GET THE LOOK TOO!
I’ve been going to Lilacia since I was young — I grew up only a few miles west of there. Such a beautiful space — your post brought back so many happy memories for me!
