Last week, my friend Kelly and I went to Oak Park to take a few photos over coffee {and dessert}. She’s my little blogger buddy! Afterwards, I was thinking – how lucky am I to have a friend who I love spending time with AND I get to do something I love? We seriously laugh the entire time.
But it wasn’t always this way. Nope. We used to be strangers…
It all started over a couple of cappuccinos in Elmhurst. Blind date at it’s finest. You see, I just moved from the city and luckily we connected over being burb bloggers. It was fate. Actually it was the Windy City Blog Co. But potato pat-a-to right?
This may be SHOCKING (wink, wink), but there are not many bloggers in the burbs. So Kelly is a rare gem in my mind. I believe mixing up your social calendar and making new friends brings a breath of fresh air to your life. I’m so happy I decided to meet a random stranger, despite being nervous and hesitant.
One thing that took me a long time to realize is…you don’t have to hold everyone to the highest standard of friendship. You know…”we are thicker than thieves, ride or die!” mentality. You can have different friends for different parts of your life. Your “going out friends”. Your “tell your secrets to friends”. Someone who will give you the hard truth. A lending ear. Your bookclub friend. A solid wine partner. All kinds of amigos to inspire your many facets.
Appreciate and enjoy people for who they are, common interests, being in a similar life stage and know that at the end of the day, we are just good people trying to make it in this crazy world.
Thank you Kelly for snapping these pics and being my new suburb BFF! And also so much love to my friends who have been there for me thick and thin. You are the best!
What about you? Do you like lots of acquaintances or just a few close knit friends? There’s no wrong or right way, just what you do. I’m curious to know!

I agree with you 100%! I have a great group of close friends and also acquaintances for different things- work, working out, mom friends, blog friends. I think it’s good to have a mix of both!
So fun! Looks like you two had a blast!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is so sweet! So glad we met, what would I do without you 🙂
