From here on out, I’m only attending vineyard weddings. Totally kidding, but not really.
Sean and I witnessed our friends – Ryan and Becky – tie the knot this weekend in St. Joseph’s, Michigan. With a tent nestled in the midst of grape vines, I felt like I had been whisked away much further than Michigan. Pure Michigan as they say. The rumors are true.
Their sequence of events and small touches made the wedding unlike any nuptials I’ve ever attended. The bride and groom wrote their own vows (tear!). Way to make us look bad Ryan and Becky 😉 But there was one touch they incorporated into the reception that really stuck out to me. I was secretly bummed I hadn’t thought of these personal, loving ideas for my own wedding. So if you aren’t married – consider this your lucky day. Here is what they did!
After the DJ introduced the Mr. & Mrs. for the first time, Becky and Ryan took the mic. Instead of having the DJ introduce the remainder of the wedding party – the bride and groom did it themselves. Here is what they said! Quick disclaimer – don’t quote me 100% on this as I had a few glasses of wine at this point. But you get the jif!
“We love our parents and wedding party so much, we are taking the time to introduce each of them one by one to all our wonderful guests”. For each parent, groomsmen and bridesmaid, Becky and Ryan shared a quick story of how they became friends; their loving qualities; an endearing story and how much they appreciated them being there. They even played a different intro song for each person! As a guest, I appreciated learning the back story of the parents and friends by their side. I felt as if I knew them now! Which gives everyone those warm and fuzzy feelings. Normally the bridesmaids and groomsmen remain a mystery. But now we knew the back story. Everyone at our tabled raved about this small detail all night long. I’ll never forget it.
So adorable right? Genuine at it’s finest.
Oh hey Sean! Look at him handle that vodka soda like a boss.
As for me? Just sipping champagne and shimmy-ing around in the vineyards. Naturally.
And I had to snap the bride’s wedged Converse kicks. Girl after my own heart. Congrats Ryan and Becky – thank you for having us be a part of your special day!
Any fun wedding ideas you’ve seen recently? One of my best friends is getting married next month and I can’t wait to see how she plans her memorable night. It’s all in the details right?
P.S. I’m obsessed with my dress I wore. This fringy number is on sale for $30!
