For three years, I used a broken, full of hair, plastic brush.
The shocker? I NEVER did anything about it.
FINALLY, thanks to our move, I ditched the old and brought in the good stuff. The results? The happiest hair that ever did live.
Since I DON’T want you making the same, silly mistake, my goal is to…
- inspire you to take audit of your hair drawer
- motivate you to replace the bad
- give you helpful suggestions on new hair tool and product ideas!
You’ll feel better, look better and be motivated to get ready in the morning.
P.S. These are especially great suggestions for fine, thin haired blondes with lots of highlighting damage. Tried and true!
IN THE SHOWER
Newest Discovery: Known as skincare for your hair, consider Kevin Murphy a hair god for brittle blondes. Your strands will never feel stronger. My hairstylist, who specializes in blondes {thanks Ashley!}, got me hooked. After just one month, I saw a difference. LOVE the Angel Wash & Rinse and Hydrate Me Wash & Rinse.
Splurge: Kerastase Densifique Bain Densite Bodifying Shampoo is for thinning hair. But it’s secretly amazing for grown out roots and your hair falls flat. You know that awkward stage in between highlights? This stuff gives you texture and body!
Staple, Go To: When I want Va Va Voom, Frederick Fekkai is where it’s at girls. Not only is it a favorite of me and Sean, we’ve been buying it for years! We stalk up when it goes on sale at Walgreens or Jewel. So keep your eyes peeled when picking up your groceries.
PREP
Protectants are key and I never blow-dry without applying this first! Rene Furterer Lissea Thermal Protecting Smoothing Spray prevents heat damage. AKA dried out, split ends! Smells heavenly.
BLOWOUT
I never thought using nicer hair tools would make a difference. But I could not have been more wrong! I had no clue old, cheap brushes and hairdryers cause MAJOR hair damage. The good news? Easy fix.
Hairdryer: The fastest blow out you’ll ever have. This hairdryer is SO COOL. Just flip a switch for “a frizz free finish” {negative ions} or “pumped up volume” {positive ions}. Use the “positive ion setting” before a deep conditioning treatment. The ions open your hair cuticle to maximize penetration and absorption. Tell me you aren’t freaking out! It’s called the1907 Zero7 Air Lightweight Dryer and you won’t regret it.
Brushes: Here’s my new brush squad:
- 1907 Glosser: Hair looking greasy after a long day? A few swipes with this brush and you’re looking fresh as a daisy. The secret? The boar bristles distribute your natural oils {from root to tip} leaving it shiny and soft. Feels like a massage too!
- 1907 Hot Paddle: Detangles hair without breakage, faster drying time and lifts the root.
- 1907 Square Thermal: Khloe Kardashian uses this! 3 styles, 1 brush. Say what?! For smooth hair, use the flat edge. For waves, tilt at an angle. For curls, rotate. Pretty nifty eh? You know my fascination with the Kardashians.
FINISH
Dry Shampoo: Guess what?! You’re using you’re using your dry shampoo completely wrong. Instead of using your dry shampoo on greasy hair, spray on roots immediately after your blowout. This little tip prevents greasy roots, and helps your blowout last even longer. Be proactive not reactive!
Have any questions? Leave me a note below and I’ll get back to ya!
Thanks to 1907 by Fromm for partnering on this post! They are truly magical 🙂
Thanks so much for the fab advice! Yes, I have one of those bad brushes! Not for long.
