Sometimes life’s luxuries are the simplest ones. Since today is National Watermelon Day {did you guys know this?!}, Katie and I are sharing 5 juicy tips on how to pick the perfect slice of heaven. You ladies are gonna LOVE this! If you happen to pick up a melon yourself, snap a pic and tag us ladies so we can give you a thumbs up.
How To Pick The Sweetest & Juiciest Watermelon
- For a tastier watermelon, choose one that’s round in shape versus oblong. These are the females and naturally sweeter (just like us girls!).
- A yellow belly means they were ripened in the field. Pick these!
- Heavier melons are best. They’re extra juicy.
- More veining is a result of multiple pollination. They’re sweeter as well!
- If in tact, choose ones with a green stem (versus brown and dried up). This shows they were picked nice and ripe.
Lastly, when eating watermelon, we suggest dressing the part and serving in style. Place slices on pretty dishes for an easy, beautiful display. We prefer blue! A simple feta salad is summer on a plate. We also love using wedges as a garnish for drinks and cocktails. After all, the garnish is the best part.
