Raise you’re hand if you’re watching the Royal Wedding alllllllll weekend long?
Meeeeee! In honor of the princess to be, I thought it’d be fun to show you how to dress just like Meghan Markle herself. Her style’s classic, chic and surprisingly easy. And you know what they say…
Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
We’re comin’ for ya Meghan!
But before we dive in, here are a few fun facts about Meghan and why the nuptials are pretty cool.
So What’s The Big Deal About Meghan Markle Anyway?
- First off {given I’m from Chicago}, did you know Meghan Markle went to Northwestern University in Chicago? Retrace the future duchess’s steps around campus here.
- But what’s MORE IMPRESSIVE is… she’s divorced, 36 years old, four years older than her fiancé, biracial, American, and a famous actress allllll by herself. If that isn’t hope for every woman in America, I don’t know what is.
- Here’s her ex in case you were wondering…
- Here’s how Prince Harry and Meghan meet.
- They’re bucking royal traditions. BIG. TIME. Royalty weddings are traditionally held on weekdays. But not this pair! They’re tying the knot on Saturday. Also, per Harper Bazaar, “fiancées aren’t usually invited to the family’s Christmas celebrations, which take place at the Queen’s residence in Norfolk. But Prince Harry asked for a special exception for his bride-to-be.”
Pretty cool right? So now that we’ve covered that…here’s how to replicate Meghan Markle’s casual style in a cinch!
Meghan Markle’s Style
How To Dress Exactly Like Meghan Markle In 6 Steps
STEP ONE – Birdies Slippers: Do you own a pair yet? Meghan’s been spotted numerous times wearing these luxury slippers {she’s wearing “The Blackbird” style in 5 of the photos above!}. They can be worn around the house and outside! I love them so much I have two pairs AND I gifted them to my mom and mother-in-law for Mother’s Day. Birdies also crafted a special pair for her to wear during hair and makeup for her wedding day. They’re absolutely gorgeous!
STEP TWO – A Trench: Meghan loves her classics. And a trench doesn’t get any more British if you tried. Not to mention she wears them like it’s her job.
STEP THREE – White T: There are three main colors worn by the princess-to-be: black, white and tan. So naturally, a white t-shirt or button down is where it’s at.
STEP FOUR – Jeans: Miss Markle doesn’t let her status get in the way of the wardrobe. She wears jeans all the time. Princesses…they’re just like us!
STEP FIVE – NY Yankee Hat: A baseball cap is a go to for Meghan {see 2 examples above} And I have to say, I love this NY one she wears regularly. {Pssssst…it’s only $25 too!}.
STEP SIX – Carry a Bouquet of Flowers: I don’t know why, but she’s always got a nicely wrapped bunch of flowers. Which she’ll be doing this Saturday too 😉 I wonder what kind?!
FUN FACT:
Queen Elizabeth {and Princess Kate} only rock nude nail polish, never color. And according to People Magazine, the Queen’s been wearing Essie’s “Ballet Slippers” since 1989!!!!
So what do you think? Did I nail the look? Would you ever wear this? And more importantly, are you tuning in for the Royal wedding ? My friend, Kit, created the cutest Royal BINGO cards to play while you watch. So fun!
Okay, off to go get my “Ballet Slippers” mani – just in time for the Royal Wedding 😉
