Guys. I just learned the coolest summer secret. Not only is it FREE, but if you like to read, you’ll think so too!Did you know Talbots has an underground library AND summer book club? Neither did I! Here’s the scoop.
An Underground Library
Just in time for my favorite pool side activity, Talbots started this underground, lending library that anyone can use. If you drop off a book {one you’re done reading of course!}, you can exchange it for a new one at any Talbots near you. FOR FREE! Isn’t that so cool?! Although it’s impossible to go inside without purchasing something, you don’t have to buy a single thing to participate. As soon as I’m done reading Crazy Rich Asians, I’ll be heading straight to Oakbrook for my next one!
Talbots Summer Book Club
Another fun surprise is Talbots Summer Book Club! If you like Reese Witherspoon’s book club, you’ll LOVE this one too. There are tons of suggestions, a reading list and they’re even doing a contest on Instagram. Look up #ShareYourSummerStory on Instagram for an instant “good book” suggestion list! If you are in a book club {I used to belong to one in the city!}, you can use their ideas for inspiration.
How Reading Makes You More Pleasant
And speaking of fun, I recently meet Arin at Blue Door Kitchen for an iced coffee and nosh {may have had a Bloodymary too!}. It’s one of the most beautiful summer spots in Chicago and be sure to sit on the patio! There are chandeliers hanging from trees and the blue china is a DREAM {which I learned is VERY hard to find and/or very expensive!}. Whenever I’m meeting people somewhere {they’re bound to be late!}, I like to bring my book with me to pass the time. I find I’m much more pleasant by the time they arrive. And usually people ask what you’re reading! A great conversation starter too.
SO. FUN. right? I love when brands do things like this! Even if you don’t read, pass along the secret to your friends and family who do.
