This feels so surreal to say. Sean and I are having a baby!
We will be welcoming our first child in February of 2019. {Although, we told Larry (our pup) he will always be our first.} We’ve been wanting this for so long and now that its here, we feel like the happiest, most scared, and nervous humans to ever exist. Guys. It’s so weird once you are pregnant because your whole life you’ve never been pregnant. It’s sinking in but not sinking in all at the same time. Does that make sense? Ha!
We’ve told our family and friends and now it feels so good to finally tell you guys! Here are the answers to our most commonly asked questions. Can’t wait to share this journey with you guys and show off my big belly. I seriously can’t stop eating. Ha!
Our Most Asked Questions
Are you finding out if it’s a boy or girl? Nope! We’re keeping it a surprise. But that wasn’t always the plan. Initially, Sean REALLY wanted to know and I didn’t. So we made a deal: 1st baby we’ll find out and 2nd baby will be a surprise. But after talking to some of our parent friends (who didn’t find out), Sean had a change of heart. So now we will wait. Did you guys find out or wait? There are so many benefits to each side I could honestly be talked into either way!
How far along are you? I’m officially in my second trimester and I’m praying I start to feel more like myself! It’s been a long time feeling like death, but this week has been amazing. Fingers are crossed it stays this way!
Any cravings? OH YEEEEEAH. They come in waves and I have the palette of a five-year old. I normally eat VERY clean five days a week. But that pretty much all went to hell in a hand basket once I became pregnant. Give me all the carbs, cheese and sweets. Oh and fruit! One time I ate an ENTIRE WATERMELON (and I’m not exaggerating). Another time I went through a huge lemonade phase and was averaging six glasses a day. Nothing sounds better than a PP&J sandwich and I also craved avocado sandwiches on toasted bread for a while. Vegetables and salad I couldn’t even look at. And nothing sounds more repulsive than seafood (which I normally LOVE with all my heart.)
Do you have names picked? If it’s a boy, we know the exact name! If it’s a girl, Sean and I couldn’t be on further ends of the spectrum if we tried. So we’ve got some work to do!
How are you feeling? Physically, like a typical nauseous, tired pregnant person. Mentally. All over the board. I’d say my biggest fear is the rude awakening and life adjustment we’re about to have. Sean’s brother {whose a father of three}, always says “you just wait!”. It’ll have been just me, Sean and Larry for 6 years by the time this little bundle of joy arrives. We literally do whatever we want, whenever we want, 24/7, 365 days a year. Sooooo to have this random human come live with us for the rest of our lives is going to rock our world. And I can’t freaking WAIT.
Are your families excited? Obviously YES. I think people just like to hear the reactions? But oh my lord are they ever!
Sean’s side is ECSTATIC and this will be the fourth grandchild on the Regan side. Sean has a big family – three siblings! So it was a blast telling his mom and brothers and sister individually. Right now there are three girl grandchildren (our nieces are seriously so beautiful and the cutest!) so the pressure is on to carry on the Regan name with a boy. Not really but we like to joke about it! Sean’s mom and sister were so emotional for us which made my heart explode into a million pieces. Sean’s twin brother (who is a dad to those three darling little girls!) I think is pumped for us to finally understand the parenting aspects he has to face (that the rest of us don’t even take into consideration when we’re all together!). Like when we would stay up late and be loud when their babies were sleeping. Karma is coming for us!
As for my family, this will be the first grandchild! Not to mention I’m an only child. So they are thrilled times a million! My mom calls Larry her grand-dog and brings him treats and presents all the time. So I’d say the Nelson clan has been ready for a while now 😜 And it’s just going to be so fun seeing my mom and dad be a grandma and grandpa!
All in all, this baby is one lucky child between Sean’s family and mine.
Is Cedar & Rush going to become a mommy blog?
No. The plan as of right now is to keep things 90% the same with fashion and entertaining. But I of course will be weaving some motherhood aspects and personal stories into it here and there. Also, a lot of my readers are moms and becoming moms so I know there’s an interest there.
I’m actually SUPER PUMPED to be doing my first baby blog partnership though! I’m attending and covering The 2018 Chicago Baby Show, on August 25 & 26! A lot of my friends went last year and said it was awesome. They are letting me giveaway 10 FREE TICKETS if you are interested in going! I’d just HURRY because they will go fast. {If you receive a message saying that “the Promotional Code You Entered is Not Valid” then all FREE 10 tickets have been used.} If you miss the free tix, my readers get 50% off ticket prices HERE!
Basically it’s a huge weekend of the top brands, great speakers and seminars, big giveaways, and lots of learning, support, bonding, and fun for parents and their families. Normal ticket price is $30 per family (for 2 adults and up to 4 children), and $20 per individual. If you’re going too, let me know!
Do you have a bump? Not yet but the pants are tiiiiight! I seriously can’t wait to rock maternity clothes and accentuate my belly so I hope I start showing soon!
What are your plans for the nursery? We know it’s going to be the same room as the office. And since we aren’t finding out the sex, it will definitely be all neutrals too {which I love anyway!}. I want it to feel like an extension of the rest of the home. But what we actually do, I have no clue. I haven’t even looked at baby furniture! So I welcome any suggestions.
Well that’s it for now folks! I just want to thank you guys for being such a support. I was genuinely so excited to share the news with you guys!! TGIF!
