MEET PENELOPE!
You guys. WE HAD A BABY! It still feels utterly surreal. But she’s here allright. Ten fingers. Ten toes. Has a grip like no other. Hopefully she keeps that up for job interviews.
She arrived {unexpectedly} Saturday, February 9th 2019, at 1:58 AM. I was induced at my weekly check up. She’s doing great and already wears the pants in the family.
As for mom and dad? Let me tell you something. Once you pack up your baby in a car seat and take her home…that’s when sh*t gets real. I can’t wait to share our birth story but will have to save it when I have time to write it all down. It’s nothing crazy but I want to be able to remember every single detail and share it with ‘P’ some day.
So how’d we get to Penelope?
Her full name is Penelope Leigh Regan. Leigh is my mom’s middle name – so that’s where that came from! As for her first name, it wasn’t even on the table until the day she arrived. Long story short, we had a small list of girl names ready. But honestly, Sean and I couldn’t agree on aaaaannnnything. We’d finally settle on a name but then couldn’t agree on the spelling!
Funnily enough, it was the VERY first name I ever told Sean I liked. He hated it! Nine months later – I guess it finally grew on him. He brought it back on the table last second. And when you see an opportunity ladies, you’ve got to take it! After a lot of hemming and hawwwing, it stuck.
She already has several nick names for being just 72 hours old. Penelope (obvi), Penny (Sean wants to call her this), ‘P’ (what I call her) and “sweet pea”. Oh! And as of last night – “not so sweet pea”.
Right now Sean and I are literally in survival mode. So as soon as I figure out this whole mom thing, I can’t wait to share more. After two nights of ZERO sleep, Sean and I concocted a game plan for tonight. So say a prayer for us and check back for more “P” sightings and Spring content.
Going to be the wildest ride of our lives yet!
