A Boozy Cake For Valentine’s Day

When Sean and I first started dating, he’d always buy me cupcakes for Valentine’s Day. I feel like food is something EVERYONE loves and takes the pressure off of material objects and how much to spend.

So this year, I thought I’d share an idea that’s not only yummy but has an extra kick!

Now I recognize not everyone is handy in the kitchen. And after a long day of work, who’s got the time to bake? I recently learned, fancy doesn’t mean fussy or time consuming.

Here’s how…

Take advantage of your local bakery. It’ll save you HOURS.

So with this in mind, I took one of my fancy schmancy Pinterest pins by the horns {I’ve had it saved for years} and delegated it to a darling bakery up the street from us, called Lezza’s.

My vision? A boozy, whiskey cake! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never pulled the trigger. Plus, who doesn’t want to get a little tipsy off dessert?

Jackson Morgan is regularly stocked on our bar cart and served as the main inspiration for my concoction.

It’s creamy, rich and I knew their Salted Caramel bottle ] would make for the perfect “secret ingredient”. To save time, I let our bakery take my idea and run with it. And that they did! {P.S. If you live in the area, they accommodate special orders like this alll the time}.

We went with a yellow cake, soaked in Jackson Morgan Salted Caramel {but honestly ANY of their seven flavors would do!}, layered with a caramel, whiskey icing. Oh. My. Heavens. Ladies.

While Lezza’s did the baking, I had time to craft an intimate tablescape for four. Gosh I love delegating.

I personally think an easy dinner – like a heart shaped pizza delivery – juxtaposed with an all out dessert affair – is an unexpected way to switch things up. Or you could do dinner out and have this waiting at home as a surprise! To top it off, compliment your slices of whiskey cake with hot coffee and a splash of Jackson Morgan.

If you’re feeling social, like inviting another couple over or organize something cute with your girlfriends, these mini Jackson Morgan bottles are a HUGE HIT as party favors! Nothing like whiskey in a tea cup.

All in all, this pretty party took less than hour to whip together. Completely doable no matter what your situation if you ask me.

Now full disclosure. I had the option of getting a full on liquor cake. But since I’m nine months pregnant with a sweet tooth like no other – the bakery used the Jackson Morgan Caramel as flavoring and cooked all the alcohol out. And it was seriously the best treat EVER. The flavor was unreal and baby agreed too. But if this were any other year, I’d be checking ID’s at the door before cutting the cake.

I hope this post inspires you to pull out all the stops, think outside the box {and delegate accordingly} for your own Valentine’s Day.

As always, please sip {and eat} responsibly.

P.S. If you want some more Valentine’s Day ideas, try this two ingredient cocktail or perhaps a Valentine’s Day brunch!

Thank you Jackson Morgan for sponsoring this post!
