I hit the Nordstrom Anniversary sale yesterday morning with Arin. I don’t ever go shopping as ‘an event’. But I always do for this sale! The thrill of the hunt is SO fun, especially since you get all the new Fall stuff on major sale.
Before I dive into my top picks, funny story!
I found out I was pregnant with P-dawg at last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I tossed my cookies right in the middle of trying everything on. Gladly this year went MUCH smoother! I can’t believe Penelope was just a tiny poppy seed. Exactly a year later I have a five month old! I told her this morning I hope she joins me one of these days at the #NSale too.
My Philosophy This Year
For this round up, I mixed and matched a lot of different pieces in multiple ways so you can see how versatile they are.
Also, Instead of showing all NEW things, I incorporated several accessories I already own. I distinguished what’s part of the sale and not below so you’ll know! I figure that’s what you’ll be doing too so it’s nice to see!
For the most part, I found the sizing of items to be BIG. Especially with Halogen and even the denim. Obviously this doesn’t go for everything so don’t hold me to this. But I mention this because if something’s not available in your size (and you really want it), don’t be afraid to order a smaller size, a petite or even two sizes smaller!
Nordstrom is notorious for their stellar return policy so go wild and return what you don’t want or doesn’t fit! When ordering online, I usually order in multiple sizes so I get what’s best for my body type.
Okay, here are my looks!
DRESSED UP

This pleated leopard skirt is the bell of the ball of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! So many bloggers have showcased it. A definite fave! Right now it’s SOLD OUT – but I promise it will be BACK. Just keep checking!
HERE’S WHY: It can be worn SO many ways. The vertical pleats give the illusion you are long and lean.
Pair it with sandals. A white tee knotted at the waist. A silky black camisole for date night! It’ll take you right into Fall with sweaters and boots. Dressed up. Or dressed down. You get the drift…
Also if you’re pregnant GET THIS! Would cover the bump so cute. And this is PERFECT to wear with a nursing top to make it nursing friendly!
TIP: It definitely runs big and the elastic band is very forgiving! So I would recommend sizing down – like I did here.
COZY

So I bought the Halogen striped t-shirt last year and this year’s version is a MILLION TIMES better! The material is thicker so it lays very nicely and hides the lumps and bumps.
As for my jeans, Good American denim is SOOOO good. I swear they make you look SKINNY. The high waist nips you at just the right spot, making them extremely flattering and you can wear crop tops without you stomach showing.
My mother and sister-in-law are hooked on this brand now too. Absolutely get ANY Good American jeans if you’re in the market for a new pair! You won’t regret them.
The Madewell cardigan is another staple that just goes with everything. Perfect to throw on over a nursing tank if you are nursing!
SAME LOOK WITH A POP OF RED

Okay so this is the exact jeans, striped t-shirt and ballet flats as above. I just swapped the cardigan for a red coat and added a little leopard handbag. Totally changes it up right?!
My red coat is actually from last year’s anniversary sale but there’s another gorgeous one on sale this year. Red seems bold but it’s secretly a classic that you can wear all the time!
ELEVATED CASUAL

So I don’t know where this handbag brand came from but boy am I digging it! It’s very “Chanel” and was the first thing I ran to when the doors opened. Very affordable considering the quality too!
So the caveat here is the version I’m wearing here isn’t part of the sale but the gray one is! very much intended getting that one. But OF COURSE it was sold out! The lady said it was one of the first things to go. I loved the handbag so much I paid full price for the colorful one at $185! It has a divider so you can keep all your things organized in size! If you’re able to score the gray one online – RUN!
OUT WITH THE GIRLS

A little black cami with the exact same boot cut jeans! I dressed it up with some statement earrings (not from the sale!) and a little heel. You can also wear this silk cami NOW and under cardigans and blazers when the temps get cooler!

This jumpsuit is so versatile.
Jumpsuits make me feel relaxed getting ready because it’s only one piece. Zero thinking required. This one nips at the waist and the classic silhouette allows you to take it from work to drinks in a sinch! Here I wore it with the same nude flats. Add a cardigan or blazer in the Fall.

I actually bought more that I didn’t have time to shoot! And I just saw this star trench that I might have to make mine. DARLING! Also, Anthroplogie’s home line is part of the sale. And this is the BEST TIP. Get ahead of your Christmas shopping with these mini Diptyque candles. Split them up to make mini individual holiday gifts for neighbors, teachers, friends or even nice stocking stuffers 🙂 They end up being just over $10 per candle. It’s so hard to find something people ACTUALLY WANT in that price range.
