When we first moved into our house four years ago, I had BIG plans.
I’d have the perfect mixture of modern and traditional style, with a sprinkle of mid-century and a splash of electric. Not one stone left unturned, it would feel like it was plucked right out of a magazine. What can I say…I’m a dreamer!
Then life happened.
New jobs, a baby, travel, celebrations….did I mention a baby? The next thing I knew that corner in our bedroom remained bare. As for that rug in our entry? Why bother?!
Flash forward to quarantine and a lot of quality time at home, all of a sudden I wanted to throw everything away and start from scratch! I realized how important it is to make your domaine a place you are proud of and love.
Thanks to the help of MacKenzie-Childs, I finally tackled some long over-due areas – our bedroom and entryway and I’m showing you them today!

I have a couple more items coming my way, but I was so excited to show you our progress now.
Here are the two items that made their way into our home! And boy do they just make a difference.
Rug Runner
Unbeknownst to me, MacKenzie-Childs carries fabulous rugs. They are LOVELY! This black and white runner gives our entryway a fun POP right when you walk in.
It compliments our black door perfectly? I adore the pattern and I actually picked this out myself. Luckily Melissa approved!
Chair
If you want to add style to any space, this is the PERFECT chair. Take a look at the profile. It’s a piece of art!
Somehow it’s both compact and spacious – perfect for our bedroom. It doesn’t take up a lot of room and you can still curl up and read a book in it!
Melissa suggested adding this chair to help draw your eye to the another corner of the room. I was initially worried adding another piece of furniture to our small bedroom would make it feel cramped. But it does the complete opposite!
It actually makes the space feel bigger. It functions as a nice spot to perch when changing your clothes and putting on shoes too. To tie it all together we added art above it.
Don’t they look great?! I can’t wait to show you the bench we are adding to our vestibule. The scalloped edges and courtly check are going to be so fun. Of course, Melissa found that too.
