Have you ever staycationed in Chicago? You know. Take a vacation in the very city you live?
As we gear up for Fall (my favorite time in Chicago), staycations are an opportunity to explore all the wanders in your own backyard. People travel to Chicago from all over the world and yet I still haven’t seen half of it.
The AC Hotel has a trick up it’s sleeve! As most hotels focus on your accommodations inside it’s walls, AC sets itself apart by emphasizing your experience outside of it’s walls. The city. Which is why it’s the ultimate staycation and travel destination.
If you are well traveled, embrace culture and creative at heart, you will appreciate the thoughtfulness put into every detail.
AC focuses on prime location and amenities you will actually use. Think of it as a home base oasis in between sightseeing, shopping and dining. You’ve got to be crazy to stay indoors all day. Which is why they don’t tempt you with spas, over-priced in-house restaurants and in room mini bars. Get out and enjoy one of the greatest city’s in the world!
My favorite part are the Barcierges! AKA concierges that serve hand crafted cocktails in the lounge. Grab a drink and suggestions prior to painting the town red. Tell me this isn’t incredibly creative.
During the day, snag a coffee or snack out of the lobby gourmet stand before running out the door.
A few other unexpected surprises during my visit last week…
The indoor swimming pool and gym. Sneak in a quick workout as you eat your way through Chicago. Great for the kiddos too.
The ACiesta Happy Hour- complimentary snacks and half off tapas plates, weekdays from 5-7 p.m. Grab a drink with the Barcierges prior to your dinner reservation. I always love asking for the new local hotspots.
Wine. On. Tap!
The Library – conveniently located in the lobby, quickly answer emails and be on your way. Complimentary WiFi too!
Hardwood floors and cozy beds.
Functional, sleek decor. The coffee tables slide under the desks, for a spacious layout.
Robes and slippers. There’s nothing better than slipping into a robe after a long day on your feet.
Netflix. For winding down the night.
European breakfast buffet. Think meats and cheeses (took me straight back to the breakfast in Italy!), quiches, fresh fruit, coffee and more. The signature croissants however take the cake. I love a good breakfast before conquering the day.
The famous hand turned Prosciutto slicer. Every AC Hotel has one and costs thousands of dollars!
The location cannot be beat. You won’t spend a fortune on cabs as you are within walking distance to the best shopping (1 block from Michigan Avenue), restaurants and hidden gems Chicago has to offer. Including Rent The Runway…
The intimate outdoor rooftop. Sip your morning coffee over the WSJ or perhaps a glass of Prosecco mid-day. We are on staycation after all!
If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay, in a prime location, where you can take advantage of Chicago’s best, then I highly recommend the AC Hotel. It will not disappoint! I already have plans to guest next month. Yahoo!
A huge thank you to AC Hotel for sponsoring this post!

Love the Barcierges idea!! Can’t wait to check it out. Chicago has so many places to explore.
Thank you Melissa! The city never seems to run out right?
