Our Story
So backing up a few months, we reconfigured our bedroom situation to accommodate our new roommate’s arrival.
We kept the nursery “as is” and transitioned Penelope into her “big girl” room (AKA our guest bedroom). That way our baby girl could slide right into the nursery.
The problem was Sean had his wardrobe dispersed into THREE areas – 1. Penelope’s now big girl room 2. our hall closet and 3. a dresser (also in Penelope’s big girl room). Poor guy! Can you imagine getting ready in the morning?!
We needed a solution and needed one FAST.
I knew our upstairs hallway closet had a ton of potential and wasted space, so I reached out to Inspired Closet to rescue us. I had seen the work they did for my friends Arin, Jenn and Maya…so if anyone could maximize the functionality of our upstairs, it was them!
The Process and Our Custom Solutions

For Sean, we asked for a system to accommodate his ‘larger than average’ clothing. He wears a size 14 shoe for Pete’s sake!
As his better half, I requested drawers to hide his “anti-Marie Kondo” folding method 😉 . Lots of shelving to prevent stacks of sweaters from toppling over. Plus hooks for his pesky baseball caps that find their way all over the house.
Penelope’s closet was a much smaller strategy – literally and figuratively. Tiny cubbies to house her petite clothes and accessories. And something way more feminine of course!

First we hired a contractor to make each space a nice, clean slate for installation. Current closet systems were ripped out, primed, prepped and painted.
This is also when we hung the green polka dot wallpaper in Penelope’s closet! PRO TIP: we strategically planned plenty of time between the closet removal and installation to have the wallpaper hung.
A couple weeks later, it was installation time! It took one day for Inspired Closets to complete both remodels. Impeccable clean up too! It’s as almost if the closets had been there the entire time.

Penelope’s Closet
As mentioned, this used to be Sean’s closet that needed to accommodate Penelope. The wire shelving made it tough to stack clothes. It was also designed for an adult, so there would be lots of wasted space!
A major perk of re-doing a closet {that you may not think of} is you can WALLPAPER. Thanks to the blank canvas pre-install, it’s much easier without shelving and racks in the way. When you open the door, it’s like this happy, unexpected surprise.
But the true value of working with Inspired Closets is the amount of storage gained. As mentioned above, we surpassed purchasing two new dressers (saving money). Plus we gained more free space for play and toys by eliminating a large piece of furniture.

Sean’s Closet
In over ten years, I’ve NEVER witnessed Sean keep his closet so orderly. And it’s totally because of Inspired Closet’s custom solutions specifically tailored to him.
